在香港屋邨經營文具店的林先生，去年遇上海關人員巡查，發現其中售賣的鬥獸棋、象棋、軍棋及飛行棋等棋盤過分單薄，不符合安全標準，被罰款港幣約共一萬五千元。
裁判官在判辭指出，雖然出售棋類用品利潤不大，但若兒童不慎使用可致窒息，後果十分嚴重。在量刑時，裁判官已經斟酌判處較低罰款。
但是店東心有不甘，考慮上訴，並向房署提早終止租約，以示抗議。
「呢個笑話若上訴去到終審法院都係咁，就真係世界大笑話！」
其實，林先生如果眞的進行上訴，才是一個大笑話。
林先生承認違反商品安全條例，所不滿者是罰款〝太高〞。
事件曝光後，林先生的文具店得到很多街坊支持，生意因而增加，收入足以彌補罰款有餘。
因禍得福，林先生夫復何求？

Prosecuting a stationery/toy shop operator for selling chess sets is unfair. The government official should prosecute the manufacturers and importers of such goods that might choke/endanger the safety of children. For the judge to impose such a heavy fine on a poor store operator is unjustifable.
Why don't the officials prosecute other stores for selling peanuts or the like which would be just as dangerous for small children without teeth? They got nothing better to do?

對啊，製造商和入口商都應該承擔責任。問題在於店主是經甚麽渠道入貨的呢？
