Okanagan Hockey Academy Penticton general manager Scott May announced today that Jessie Leung has been named the head coach of the OHA Penticton U17 Prep White Team.
“Jessie comes to OHA with a wealth of experience at the U18, U17 & U16 levels. His time in the BC Hockey system has prepared him for the Academy structure and he will be a great coach, leader and mentor for our U17 group. As a coach that understands what it takes to get to the Jr level, Jessie will best prepare his players for the next step in their journey. Jessie has a passion for coaching and we are excited to provide an opportunity for him to get back behind the bench” said Scott May.
Leung comes to the OHA after spending several season in the BCHL– first as an Assistant Coach with the Trail Smoke Eaters and then with the Prince George Spring Kings as an Associate Coach.
Prior to his time in the BCHL, Jessie spent 6 years with the Valley West Hawks in the BC Major Midget League, first as an Associate Coach and then as a Head Coach. In 2016, he coached the Hawks to a league championships.
Additionally, Leung has worked for the BC Hockey Program of Excellence as a both a Video Coach and Assistant Coach for the U16 program. As an Assistant Coach, he was part of the Silver Medal team in 2016 at the Western Canada Challenge Cup.
In 2021, Jesse served as the Video Coach for the U18 Team Black at the Hockey Canada National Women’s Summer Showcase, reviewing footage with coaches and individual players to improve performance.
